Gail Michel-Parsons began ballroom dancing in 1989 when she enrolled in a beginning ballroom class here at UNLV under the instruction of Donna Medrano. The following year she joined the Ballroom Formation Team and remained a member for eight years competing in many collegiate events, both in USA Dance and NDCA. Gail and her partner won the National Collegiate Smooth Championship. After ending her time as a team member, she took over as director and coach, serving in that capacity for 14 years. Gail also took over the organization of the Desert Challenge Intercollegiate Dance Sport Championships, an annual collegiate ballroom competition that attracts competitors from all over the West Coast.
